By the Blue
A downloadable game for Windows
By the Blue is a 2.5D linear platformer focused on mood and narrative. You play as Ada, a young electrician living on a mining asteroid owned by the oppressive Cutworth’s Collective.
Work and life conditions are dire, but an unexpected encounter with a creature from outer-space gives Ada a taste of freedom, leaving her torn between duty and free-will.
Features:
- Story rich. As miserable as it is, life on ORE is never still. At every corner, people work, grieve, or even crack a joke in the face of their daily struggle.
- Atmospheric. Inspired by Victorian industrialism and Soviet propaganda, the game takes place in a harsh and gloomy environment where futuristic elements combine with the raw and old.
- Deadly. Although Ada is very able, exposed wires, heavy machinery, and leaky pipes make traversal dangerous, especially given her habit of using alternative routes.
Best played with a controller.
About us:
Hello from BigMood!🐙🎩 We're an indie studio of 4 people and this is our trial project. We wanted to create a short game that would allow us to learn new skills and find our workflow. As a result, this is not a full game. We have 3 playable levels which we hope you will enjoy - and we would love to hear about your experience!
For now, this project is on hold as we will start working on a new, full game. Maybe, if the stars align, we will come back to the Blue 🌠 Stay tuned!

The atmosphere of the game is cool, but the controls are not responsive.
Thanks for the feedback! Did you play with controller or keyboard?
I really hope the stars align for you to continue working on this because the mood and narrative took the best parts of Dishonored and Night in the Woods and combined it with space mining to make something so good and I absolutely loved everything about it. The visual style is delightful and I really enjoyed the animations (genuinely I cannot properly express just how good the mood was, so 10/10 studio name)
I really enjoyed the platforming and while the controls sometimes felt a bit clunky/unresponsive I had a blast gaining momentum and speeding through parts of the levels before slowing down to figure out some trickier paths. There was a good balance between the two so nothing felt repetitive or boring!
Thank you for your kind words! ❤️
